Australian intelligence agencies have revealed that recent arson attacks targeting Jewish sites in Melbourne and Sydney were orchestrated by Iran, marking a major escalation in state-sponsored threats on Australian soil.
Funding Trail Exposed
The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) confirmed that investigators followed a complex funding trail that ultimately led back to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Officials explained that the money was funneled through a series of intermediaries designed to conceal its true origin, with local operatives recruited to carry out the attacks.
Attacks on Jewish Sites
The most prominent incident occurred in December, when masked attackers set fire to the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne. A similar arson attempt at a kosher restaurant in Sydney has also been linked to the same operation. Authorities believe the perpetrators may not have known they were acting on behalf of a foreign government, having been drawn in through criminal networks.
Tragic and Diplomatic Fallout
