At IFA 2025 in Berlin, Lenovo introduced the ThinkBook VertiFlex, a concept laptop featuring a 14-inch display that can rotate 90 degrees from landscape to portrait orientation. This innovative design aims to enhance productivity by providing users with a more versatile screen layout.
Design and Features
The VertiFlex maintains a slim profile, measuring 17.9 mm in thickness and weighing approximately 1.39 kg. The rotating mechanism is mechanical, eliminating the need for flexible OLED displays or motorized components. Users can manually rotate the screen by gripping the right corner and lifting it into a vertical position.
In portrait mode, the display offers a more efficient layout for tasks such as coding, reading documents, or browsing social media feeds. The back panel of the screen is designed with a felt backing to prevent scratches and allows users to place a smartphone for use with Lenovo’s Smart Connect app.
Connectivity and Ports
The VertiFlex is equipped with standard ports, including:
- Thunderbolt (likely version 4)
- USB-A
- HDMI
- 3.5mm audio jack
These ports ensure compatibility with a wide range of peripherals and accessories.
Potential Applications
The ability to switch to portrait mode can significantly improve the user experience for various tasks:
- Coding: View more lines of code without scrolling.
- Document Editing: Display longer documents or spreadsheets more effectively.
- Social Media Browsing: Enjoy a native vertical layout for platforms like Instagram or TikTok.
While the VertiFlex is currently a concept device, its design showcases Lenovo’s commitment to innovation
