Samsung has started the worldwide rollout of its One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 series, delivering the first major software upgrade for the latest flagship lineup. Built on Android 16, the update brings a host of new features and enhancements aimed at improving user experience and device performance.
Key Features of One UI 8
Enhanced AI Capabilities
One UI 8 incorporates advanced multimodal artificial intelligence, allowing devices to understand and respond to visual, auditory, and textual inputs. This enables smarter suggestions, improved real-time translations, and a more intuitive user experience.
Improved Security Measures
The update introduces Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) for app-specific secure storage. Knox Matrix automatically signs out devices if potential threats are detected, and a new Secure Wi-Fi feature uses post-quantum cryptography to safeguard against evolving cyber threats.
Gallery Assistant App
Samsung is testing the new Gallery Assistant app, consolidating photo and video editing tools into a single platform. Features include batch editing, media compression, rotation and flipping, object clipping, and customizable watermarking options.
Rollout Timeline
The One UI 8 update initially launched in South Korea, first available to beta testers. It has since expanded to additional regions, including Germany, India, and the UK, with Samsung continuing the phased rollout to more countries in the coming weeks.
Availability for Other Devices
Samsung plans to extend the One UI 8 update to a wide range of devices throughout 2025, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, and select Galaxy A, M, and Tab series models.
How to Update
Galaxy S25 users can access the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. It is recommended to connect to Wi-Fi and ensure sufficient battery life before updating.
