Samsung has officially revealed its first tri-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, at the APEC 2025 summit in Gyeongju, South Korea. The device was displayed at the K-Tech Showcase, allowing attendees to view its innovative design and futuristic engineering. Samsung is positioning the TriFold as a device that combines the convenience of a smartphone with the productivity potential of a tablet.
The Galaxy Z TriFold features a dual-hinge system that enables the device to fold into three segments. When fully folded, it resembles a standard 6.5-inch smartphone, but it can expand to a 10-inch tablet-sized display. This versatile design caters to users who want portability without sacrificing screen space for multitasking, gaming, or media consumption. Samsung’s engineers have emphasized durability, with a titanium frame and a triple-battery system—one battery in each fold—to ensure consistent power delivery across the segments.
Leaked details suggest that the TriFold may be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and could offer up to 16GB of RAM. Photography enthusiasts can expect a high-end camera setup, possibly including a 200MP main sensor and 100x digital zoom capabilities. Samsung has yet to confirm official specifications, indicating that further testing and development are still underway before the device reaches consumers.
While Samsung has not announced a definitive global release date, early reports indicate that the TriFold could initially be available in select markets, including South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE. The showcased prototype is intended to gauge consumer interest and provide insights ahead of a wider rollout. Analysts see the Galaxy Z TriFold as a bold step in the evolution of foldable smartphones, blending flexibility, performance, and premium design into a single device.
As the technology matures, Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold could redefine expectations for mobile computing, bridging the gap between smartphones and tablets while setting new standards for innovation in the foldable device market. Tech enthusiasts around the world are eagerly anticipating full specifications, pricing, and availability details in the coming months.
