Windows 11 25H2 Update Brings More Control Panel Features to the Settings App

Microsoft has taken another step toward retiring the classic Control Panel in its latest Windows 11 25H2 preview build, shifting several long-standing options into the modern Settings app. This change is part of the company’s ongoing effort to centralize system configurations into a single, more user-friendly interface.

In this build, multiple date, time, and regional settings have been relocated. Users can now set additional clocks directly from the Settings menu, view them in the Notification Center, and configure time servers without visiting the legacy interface. Formatting options for date, time, numbers, and currency have also been integrated into the updated menus, along with the ability to copy regional preferences to new accounts and system screens.

Keyboard customization has received attention as well, with repeat rate, delay, and cursor blink speed now accessible through the Accessibility section in Settings. These changes aim to make commonly used features easier to find while providing a consistent look and feel throughout the system.

Beyond settings migration, the 25H2 update introduces a redesigned mobile device companion panel in the Start menu, offering quicker access to recent calls, messages, and app activity. Microsoft has also refined the appearance of error dialogs to align with Windows 11’s design language, while delivering performance and stability improvements in key areas like File Explorer.

With these updates, Microsoft continues its gradual phase-out of the Control Panel, signaling that the future of Windows system management lies entirely within the modern Settings app.
