Google Prepares Next-Generation Nest Devices with 2K Video and AI Features

Google is gearing up to release a refreshed line of Nest devices, promising major upgrades in video quality, artificial intelligence, and smart home functionality. The lineup includes new versions of the Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor, Nest Doorbell, and a redesigned Google Home Speaker, all featuring integration with Google’s advanced Gemini AI.

Improved Video Quality and Design

The updated Nest cameras are expected to offer 2K HDR video, a notable improvement over the current 1080p standard. Users will benefit from clearer footage and a 6x digital zoom to focus on specific areas. The indoor cameras will be available in multiple color options, including neutral and bold tones, while the outdoor cameras will maintain durable finishes suited for all-weather use. The Nest Doorbell will also receive the 2K upgrade and new color choices to better match home exteriors.

AI Integration with Gemini

A key feature of the new devices is the integration of Gemini AI, which replaces the existing Google Assistant on Nest speakers and displays. Gemini is designed to provide more natural conversation, better contextual understanding, and smarter responses to user queries.

The Nest Doorbell will introduce AI-powered Daily Summaries, automatically generating concise recaps of daily activity around the home. The new Google Home Speaker will feature 360-degree sound detection, alerting users to important noises such as smoke alarms or breaking glass, enhancing home safety.

Subscription and App Enhancements

Google is also updating its Nest subscription service, now branded as Google Home Premium, offering enhanced cloud storage and advanced AI features. Users can expect an upgraded app experience with live playback improvements, event previews, and convenient video navigation tools for easier monitoring of cameras and doorbells.

Looking Ahead

With these upgrades, Google is positioning its Nest ecosystem as a more intelligent and user-friendly solution for smart homes. The combination of higher-quality video, AI-powered insights, and a refined app experience is expected to make the new Nest devices highly competitive in the growing smart home market.
