Valve has rolled out a major CS2 update on July 28, 2025, introducing significant changes across first-person animations, core gameplay mechanics, map design, audio, and quality-of-life improvements.
🔄 Animation: All First‑Person Animations Rebuilt with AnimGraph2
The update brings AnimGraph2, a next-generation animation system that revamps all first-person animations—covering weapon draws, reloading, firing, and even small details like weapon inspection. Chickens in the game have also been given new animations, making them more realistic and responsive.
Initial community response has been mixed. While some players appreciate the smoother transitions and modernized look, others feel certain animations appear exaggerated or less tactical compared to previous versions.
🧠Gameplay Improvements: Smoother Movement Shots & Shotgun Reload Fix
The patch improves damage prediction while moving, making movement-based gunfights more reliable. A frustrating issue where shotguns continued to reload after interruption has been fixed, giving players more control during combat.
For players who love surfing maps, movement collision has been refined—reducing situations where players get stuck during slides or tricks.
🔊 Audio Revamp: Reload, Draw & Surf Sounds Enhanced
Audio adjustments were made to match the newly overhauled animations. Reload and weapon-draw sounds now align better with visual cues. A long-standing bug affecting individual voice volume settings has also been resolved.
Surfing maps receive a sound upgrade with new speed-based sound effects and console settings for further customization. Map creators also get new tools for ambient audio design, giving community maps a more immersive feel.
